Svartmetallbandet Ragnarok ble startet i 1994 av trommeslager og vokalist John Thomas «Jontho» Bratland og bassist Tom «Jerv» Richardsen.
Musikalsk er stilen black metal med innslag av death og Thrash. De var kjent som et av de mest ekstreme black metal-bandene i Norge og brukte mye liksminke og spesialeffekter, og har hatt stor innflytelse på metalscenen både i Norge og internasjonalt.
Bandets navn kommer fra det gammelnorske ordet Ragnarök som refererer til det siste slaget mellom de norrøne gudene og jotnene. Bandets tre første album Nattferd (1995) Arising Realm (1997) og Diabolocal Age (2000) ble gitt ut på labelen Head Not Found via Voices of Wonder. 21. desember 2025 ble det kunngjort at John Thomas «Jontho» Bratland var død etter en tids sykdom.

The black metal band Ragnarok was formed in 1994 by drummer and vocalist John Thomas "Jontho" Bratland and bassist Tom "Jerv" Richardsen.
Musically, the style is black metal with elements of death and Thrash. They were known as one of the most extreme black metal bands in Norway and used a lot of corpse makeup and special effects, and have had a great influence on the metal scene both in Norway and internationally.
The band's name comes from the Old Norse word Ragnarök which refers to the final battle between the Norse gods and the Jötns. The band's first three albums Nattferd (1995) Arising Realm (1997) and Diabolocal Age (2000) were released on the label Head Not Found via Voices of Wonder. On December 21, 2025, it was announced that John Thomas "Jontho" Bratland had died after a period of illness.
